WRF simulations from the Norwegian Research Council project ICEBOX, grant agreeement No 820655 Run and generated by Øivind Hodnebrog (oivind.hodnebrog@cicero.oslo.no) and Maria Sand (maria.sand@cicero.oslo.no) at CICERO and described in https://doi.org/10.1016/j.coldregions.2023.103836 by Emilie Claussen Iversen et.al. A CMIP6 historical (from 1988 to 2014) and three future projection scenarios (ssp126, ssp245 and ssp370) (2015-2099) have been downscaled with WRF from CMIP6 output availble from esgf, from two models, CESM2 (ensemble member r11i1p1f1) and MPI-ESM1-2-HR (ensemble member r1i1p1f1). There is a folder for each model and experiment combination with name on the form. All experiments have been downscaled to cover Scandinavia using WRF. - ICEBOXvx_model_experiment Where the vx is v2 for historical experiments and v3 for the others, model is the model short name CESM2 or MPI and experiment is the experiment names. All experiment folders have one subfolder for each year. In each of there are files of various filetypes described below ########## Content of the subfolders per experiment per year: ########## - There is one subfolder for each year, containing the following files: o rsl.error.0000_wrf: Logfile from the run o wrfout_d01_YYYY-MM-01_accu.nc: Monthly output of accumulated variables (e.g., precipitation). o wrfout_d01_YYYY-MM_inst.nc: Monthly mean output of instantaneous variables (e.g., temperature). o wrfout_d01_YYYY-MM-DD_hrly.nc: Hourly output of 2 meter temperature o wrfout_d01_YYYY-MM-DD_prec.nc: Hourly precipitation (note that this is given as accumulated and not instantaneous) o wrfout_d01_YYYY-MM-DD_daily.nc: Daily mean values of surface pressure (PSFC), specific humidity at 2 meter height (Q2) and perturbation geopotential (GEOPOT). o wrfprecip_d01_YYYY-MM-DD_ HH:MM:SS: Daily files with 10-minute output of precipitation (like wrfout_d01_YYYY-MM-DD_prec.nc) only with values for every 10 minutes o wrfxtrm_d01_YYYY-MM-DD_ HH:MM:SS: Contains variables relevant for extreme analysis at daily temporal resolution (e.g., T2MIN and T2MAX). o wrfrst_d01_YYYY-MM-DD_HH:MM:SS: Restart files In addition there is a subfolder called hourly_variables. It contains daily files with hourly output on three types of files o wrfout_d01_YYYY-MM-DD_varlist1.nc: Daily files with hourly output of 3D atmospheric variables from 10 lowest model levels o wrfout_d01_YYYY-MM-DD_varlist2.nc: Daily files with hourly output of 3D soil variables (the third dimension extends into the depth of the soil) o wrfout_d01_YYYY-MM-DD_varlist3.nc: Daily files with hourly output of 2D variables
