This folder contains data from simulations using earth system model CSEM2-CAM6.
Analyses based on these data are presented in
"The turbulent future - a breath of fresh air", Stjern et al., 2023, Nature Communications
Main findings are that black carbon (BC) suppresses turbulence, reduces planetary boundary height
and increases the number of high pollution events, while CO2 has an opposite effect.

BASE : baseline experiment, year 2000 aerosol emissions and CO2 concentrations
CO2x2: as BASE, only with doubled CO2 concentrations
BCx10: as BASE, only with a tenfold increase in anthropogenic BC emissions
SO4x5: as BASE, only with a fivefold increase in anthropogenic SO2 and SO4 emissions

Simulation data was output on different temporal resolutions. For the monthly mean data, a wide
range of variables are available, while for the higher resolution data only turbulence-, aerosol-,
and cloud-/rain-related variables are stored.

Monthly mean resolution: *.h0.*.nc
	..contains one monthly mean value per variable

	..data from these files were used to create Figs 1 and 2a in the paper above

Daily mean resolution: *.h2.*.nc
        ..contains one daily mean value per variable

6-hourly mean resolution:  *.h1.*.nc
	..these data were used to calculate Richardsons number and Brunt Väiälä frequency as
		described in the paper
	..contains one 6-hourly mean value per file, which means there are four file per day
